Surround Technologies Leads with LANSA 2005
BLOOMFIELD, NJ – April 19, 2005 – Surround Technologies, LLC, is the first developer to implement an application built with the newest LANSA release, the LANSA 2005 product suite. The application – an interactive Web site for United Consumer Financial Services – is scheduled to go live by the end of April.
After building multi-platform applications in LANSA for 13 years, Surround Technologies is excited to move to LANSA 2005 as its primary development tool due to the new technology available in the product release, according to Surround Technologies’ founding president, Lee Paul.
“LANSA has always provided an environment that had several levels of magnitude of productivity over other tools,” Paul said. “And now, LANSA 2005 is a vast improvement over that, leaving other tools in the dust.”
Paul notes that LANSA 2005 allows developers to program on the IBM iSeries environment at a faster rate, completing more complex projects in tighter timeframes. Additionally, he says, the flexibility built into the product allows programmers to more easily build applications that meet current and future needs.
“From the new repository data types to the new Web Application Modules, LANSA 2005 allows programmers to quickly accomplish tasks that previously required other tools and technology. Now, it can all be done in one environment with one skill set: LANSA 2005,” Paul said.
“Using a very structured approach to programming, Surround Technologies has built many tools that sit on top of the LANSA environment. The new LANSA 2005 APIs can be used by our tools to access the repository and compilation technology, which is a tremendous productivity boost for our programmers and our clients.”
New Markets
Surround Technologies is able to utilize this newfound efficiency by churning out more innovative and complex solutions for their clients within realistic timeframes and budgets.
Paul has found that LANSA 2005 fits into the natural progression and growth of Surround Technologies’ Internet offerings. Traditionally, Surround Technologies has been considered one of the best Microsoft Windows interface developers in the IBM iSeries environment, according to Paul. Now, LANSA 2005 is allowing Surround Technologies to outperform their competitors in the Web user interface market as well.
“Surround Technologies programmers can now provide user interfaces to Web browsers, Pocket PCs, and more,” said Paul. “Plus, our programmers can provide Web services for integration with other systems. And, all of this is done with our existing people and our existing skill sets.”
“It is of little surprise to us here at Surround Technologies how impressive LANSA 2005 is,” Paul noted. “For 13 years now, LANSA has allowed us to advance our product and service offerings by shielding us from the underlying technology. LANSA has time and time again proven itself as the technology insurance we need to compete now and well into the future.”
Pursuing Certification
Besides getting ready to release the first-ever live LANSA 2005 application, Surround Technologies is actively working to certify their Visual LANSA (VL) Accelerator product to be compatible in LANSA 2005.
“Having our product, Visual LANSA Accelerator, become certified in LANSA 2005 demonstrates the lead we are taking in developing with the latest LANSA product suite. Additionally, our VL Accelerator clients will benefit from getting all LANSA updates in a timely manner,” Paul said. “Having this certification, and being able to conduct LANSA Beta and Early Release testing, as well as new release certification on our VL Accelerator product, we can assure our clients that their implementation will work.”
