ST Releases Freight Management Systems Application
BLOOMFIELD, NJ – November 20, 1998 – Surround Technologies announces the release of their Freight Management Systems application.
Due to be released mid-October, FMS is a suite of applications for the shipping industry that allows users to easily maintain customer databases, establish and update shipping orders, manage personnel and driver trips, handle dispatch operations, and track equipment inventory and maintenance.
A shrink-wrapped package, FMS is easy to install and simple to use. No custom installation is required.
FMS is developed in LANSA, but you do not need to have your own AS/400 server to run it:
- FMS can be run as a client/server application on a PC running Microsoft Windows 95, 98 or NT. In this environment, FMS has a typical Windows graphical user interface.
- If you do have your own AS/400 server already up and running, you certainly can install it there and run it in a windows graphical user interface or typical AS/400 green screen environment.
- Or, if you cannot afford the computer disk space to store your FMS system, you can run it right over the Internet, where you can access it either with any Web browser application or by installing a commercial-quality client application installed on your PC. In this fashion, you will be accessing the Surround Technologies AS/400 server remotely, saving you the hassle of buying and maintaining your own server.
Of course, if you choose this option, you can be sure the data you are exchanging over the Internet has been encrypted with Netscape's Secure Socket Layer 128-bit encryption format. The closed lock icon that you will see in the lower left-hand corner of your browser when you log on to our server is your insurance of security.
You choose the system environment that works for you.
