Presenters
Lee Paul is CEO and founding member of Surround Technologies, LLC.
Lee graduated Syracuse University in 1991 with a BS in Aerospace Engineering. With limited job opportunities he started his own business in Information Technologies and never looked back. Self-taught and now with over 25 years in the industry Lee is a software innovator, visionary and strategist focused on helping and enabling companies use software technology to tactically and strategically solve their business challenges. He believes software can truly change the world in positive and meaningful ways and that this can be achieved by each individual company utilizing software to better deliver their products and services; utilizing software that people love. He understands and evangelizes the necessary and critical balance within each company between the Software Investors (the business), software Consumers (business staff, partners, customers, community and audience), Software Producers (IT Staff) and Software Providers (the plethora of vendors).
Derek Maciak is the Chief Technology Officer and partner at Surround Technologies, LLC
Derek has over 20 years of experience in the software industry. He is the Lead Architect and Product Manager of Surround's Accelerator software development solution that is used within many different companies in many industries worldwide. Derek has consulted on numerous large-scale enterprise level applications in the manufacturing, retail, hospitality, publishing, and transportation industries just to name a few. For the past several years Derek has focused a great deal of time on software modernization and accelerating agile development for windows, web and mobile using a Service Oriented Architecture. As an avid IBM i proponent, Derek and his team recognized that User Interface and User Experience were becoming increasingly important and has been providing tools and strategies to clients who wish to further empower their IBM i systems without dead-ends or lock-ins.
