  I want to try UFTP, what do I need to Download to get started with the free 30 day trial?  
  The 30 day trial is a full working version of UFTP. Download and Install the iSeries Installation and the Windows Installation then contact Surround for Trial License codes. More information and installation instructions are available in the Documentation.  
 
  I have UFTP Version 3.x, what do I need to upgrade to 5.x?  
  UFTP Version 4.0 and later is vastly enhanced from the previous versions of UFTP. We have incorporated 95% of our clients enhancement requests into it as well as the majority of our own internal needs making UFTP 4.x and later an extremely powerful, flexible, and robust FTP automation tool.
While 4.x and later versions share the same library structure as 3.x, all database files and all programs are different. Therefore both 3.x and later UFTP versions can coexist and function together on the same system. UFTP 3.x provides an excellent solution for many UFTP automation tasks. If it is working fine for your current needs, great, continue to use it. If UFTP 3.x is not quite fitting your current FTP automation needs, The latest UFTP release will. Install the latest UFTP release, work with it, and start using the numerous new enhancements and features available.
To Upgrade, download and install the iSeries Full Upgrades and the Windows Installation.
You will also need to apply any iSeries UFTP EPCs later than EPC 37.		  
 
  I already have UFTP Version 4.x, what do I need to upgrade to a newer version?  
  The iSeries EPCs and Windows Installation.
The latest CD's sent out as well as both the Full and Upgrade downloads on this page include up to Build 35 (EPC 35).		  
 
 
  To get and use the UFTP software:
  • Download the Files from the links below.
  • Make folders on your hard drive "C:\UFTP", "C:\UFTP\WIN", "C:\UFTP\iSeries", "C:\UFTP\iSeries\CD", "C:\UFTP\iSeries\CD2", and "C:\UFTP\Guides" or some other temporary folders like that.
  • Extract any Zip files to the appropriate folder.

All of Surround's online guides are provided in CHM "online" format (Compiled HELP) to give you comprehensive search capabilities and quick and easy access to the vast knowledgebase of the products.

  • The Guides can be put anywhere and accessed without the UFTP Software.
  • The UFTP Windows Software references the files in the %install dir%\X_LANSA\X_FTL\Source folder where the %install dir% is where you installed the software. This is typically "C:\Program Files\Surroundtech". The Latest Guides must be put there in order for UFTP to reference the correct guides.

  • Extract the Windows Installation Zip File (usually uftp4wn.zip or uftp4wnsv.zip) to the C:\UFTP\WIN or other temporary Folder from previous step. Three Files will be extracted.
  • Execute the Setup.exe program and follow the on screen instructions.
iSeries Installation

The iSeries software can be installed by 2 methods, from a CD in the iSeries Optical Drive or by using FTP to upload iSeries Save files. It is recommended that you use the CD in the optical drive as it is currently easier and requires less work during the install.

uftp4is.zip (243 MB 3-10-2005) - UFTP/SFE Version 5.1 Build 40 AS/400 and iSeries Full Installation via FTP (OS/400 V4R5 or Later)

  • Extract the iSeries Installation Zip File (usually uftp4is.zip) to the C:\UFTP\iSeries or other temporary Folder from previous step. Six Files will be extracted.
  • Follow the instructions in the User guide under "Installing using save files transferred using FTP".

uftp4iscd.zip (221 MB 3-10-2005) - UFTP/SFE Version 5.1 Build 40 iSeries CD Image files for burning onto a CD and installing via iSeries Optical Drive and LODRUN command.

  • Extract the iSeries Installation Zip File (usually uftp4iscd.zip) to the C:\UFTP\iSeries\CD or other temporary Folder from previous step. Nine Files will be extracted.
  • Burn these Nine Files onto the Root folder of a CD with a Volume name of STUFTP.
  • Follow the instructions in the User guide under "Installing from the CD-ROM in the iSeries optical drive".

uftp4iscd2.zip (203 MB 3-10-2005) - UFTP/SFE Version 5.1 Build 40 iSeries additional environment Full Upgrade CD Image files for burning onto a CD and installing via iSeries Optical Drive.

  • Extract the iSeries Upgrade Installation Zip File (usually uftp4iscd2.zip) to the C:\UFTP\iSeries\CD2 or other temporary Folder from previous step. Two Files will be extracted.
  • Burn these Two Files onto the Root folder of a CD with a Volume name of STUFTP.
  • Follow the instructions in the User guide under "UFTP for the iSeries: FULL Software Upgrade".

uftp4isup.zip 219 MB 3-10-2005) - UFTP/SFE Version 5.1 Build 40 AS/400 and iSeries additional environment Full Upgrade (OS/400 V4R5 or Later)

  • Extract the iSeries Upgrade Zip File (usually uftp4isup.zip) to the C:\UFTP\iSeries or other temporary Folder from previous step. Five .SAVF Files will be extracted. These Save Files contains the objects and data for the upgrade.
  • Follow the Upgrade instructions in the User guide under "UFTP for the AS/400 Software Upgrade".

uftp4isugp.zip (479 KB 3-10-2005) - UFTP/SFE Version 5.1 Build 40 STGPL objects

  • Extract the iSeries uftp4isugp Upgrade Zip File to the C:\UFTP\iSeries or other temporary Folder from previous step. Two files, UFTP4ISUGP.SAVF and an installation instructions document will be extracted. UFTP4ISUGP.SAVF is a Save File that contains the objects for the upgrade.
  • Follow the Installation instructions in the included document.

uftp4isufw.zip 410 KB 3-10-2005) - UFTP/SFE Version 5.1 Build 40 Windows Framework. The Framework is a set of data files that control the Windows user interfaces to UFTP.

  • Extract the iSeries uftp4isufw Upgrade Zip File to the C:\UFTP\iSeries or other temporary Folder from previous step. Two files, UFTP4ISUFW.SAVF and an installation instructions document will be extracted. UFTP4ISUFW.SAVF is a Save File that contains the objects for the upgrade.
  • Follow the Installation instructions in the included document.

uftp4isuuw.zip 80 KB 3-10-2005) - UFTP/SFE Version 5.1 Build 40 5250 Framework. The Framework is a set of data files that control the 5250 user interfaces to UFTP.

  • Extract the iSeries uftp4isuuw Upgrade Zip File to the C:\UFTP\iSeries or other temporary Folder from previous step. Two files, UFTP4ISUUW.SAVF and an installation instructions document will be extracted. UFTP4ISUUW.SAVF is a Save File that contains the objects for the upgrade.
  • Follow the Installation instructions in the included document.

uftp4isudt.zip (257 KB 3-10-2005) - UFTP/SFE Version 5.1 Build 40 Data Initialization

  • Extract the iSeries uftp4isudt Upgrade Zip File to the C:\UFTP\iSeries or other temporary Folder from previous step. Two files, UFTP4ISUDT.SAVF and an installation instructions document will be extracted. UFTP4ISUDT.SAVF is a Save File that contains the objects for the upgrade.
  • Follow the Upgrade instructions in the User guide under "UFTP for the AS/400 Software Upgrade".

Full Release: V5.0 Build 37 - Release 7/13/04

UFTP4IS38P.zip (12.2 MB 12-21-2004) - UFTP/SFE V5.0 Build 38 Update (OS/400 V4R5 or Later). This build supersedes Build 36.

  • This EPC provides support for OS/400 V5R3M0.
  • Extract the iSeries Update Zip Files (usually UFTP4ISnnP.zip where nn is the EPC Number) to the C:\UFTP\iSeries or other temporary Folder from previous step. Two Files will be extracted, the Save File that contains the objects for the update and the EPC installation information.
  • Follow the EPC Installation information instructions to install the update.

UFTP4IS39P.zip (114 MB 2-2-2005) - UFTP/SFE V5.0 Build 39 Update (OS/400 V4R5 or Later).

  • Extract the iSeries Update Zip Files (usually UFTP4ISnnP.zip where nn is the EPC Number) to the C:\UFTP\iSeries or other temporary Folder from previous step. Two Files will be extracted, the Save File that contains the objects for the update and the EPC installation information.
  • Follow the EPC Installation information instructions to install the update.

UFTP4IS40P.zip (4.26 MB 3-10-2005) - UFTP/SFE V5.1 Build 40 Update (OS/400 V4R5 or Later).

  • Extract the iSeries Update Zip Files (usually UFTP4ISnnP.zip where nn is the EPC Number) to the C:\UFTP\iSeries or other temporary Folder from previous step. Two Files will be extracted, the Save File that contains the objects for the update and the EPC installation information.
  • Follow the EPC Installation information instructions to install the update.

UFTP5IS41P.zip (39.7 MB 8-4-2005) - UFTP/SFE V5.1 Build 41 Update (OS/400 V4R5 or Later).

  • Extract the iSeries Update Zip Files (usually UFTP5ISnnP.zip where nn is the EPC Number) to the C:\UFTP\iSeries or other temporary Folder from previous step. Two Files will be extracted, the Save File that contains the objects for the update and the EPC installation information.
  • Follow the EPC Installation information instructions to install the update.
Attention Existing LANSA Users

Read Below if LANSA is Installed on Your AS/400 for purposes other than use with UFTP.

UFTP was developed using the LANSA 4GL development tool. The iSeries Initial Installation download contains a production version of this LANSA software that may conflict with your current installation.

If you are unsure whether LANSA is installed on your AS/400 system, check to see if a data area called "DC@A01" exists on your machine. If it doesn't, then you do not have LANSA, and you may continue with the UFTP download and standard installation.

If the data area object does exist, then you already have LANSA installed on your AS/400 and can optionally install UFTP in two ways:

  1. You can install UFTP and the associated LANSA environment. This will create a separate LANSA environment from your existing LANSA environment. UFTP can be safely installed and both LANSA environments can co-exist as long as the libraries do not conflict. The libraries used for UFTP are:
    • ST@PGMLIB: the LANSA Program Library (the standard LANSA install uses DC@PGMLIB).
    • ST@DTALIB: the LANSA Data Library (the standard LANSA install uses DC@DTALIB).
    • ST@QGPL: the LANSA QGPL Library (the standard LANSA install uses QGPL).
    • STFTLPGM: the UFTP Program Library.
    • STFTLDAT: the UFTP Data Library.
    • STGPL: the Surround Technologies General Purpose Library.

    If you choose this option, refer to the iSeries Installation download.

    Note: This is a LANSA production runtime environment only and cannot be used to edit, view or compile LANSA code. In order to use this LANSA environment, these libraries must exist in your library list ahead of any other LANSA environment libraries.

  2. Set up a partition for UFTP in your existing LANSA environment and install UFTP into that partition. Follow the instructions in the User guide for information on how to do this.

    Note: The LANSA environment must be LANSA Version 9.0 or Later.
