Surround Technologies has a long history developing with the LANSA tools and the development environment continues to be strategic to some of the solutions we provide to our clients. Today, we offer LANSA practitioners the best Tools and Methodologies to practice their art, as well as the insight into when and where it constitutes the right choice.
History with LANSA
The Surround Technologies Team has been developing in LANSA since 1992 and, according to our clients, are among the best LANSA Developers in the world.
For years we were LANSA Partners working directly with the LANSA Product Center, LPC, in Australia and assisting them in the testing and quality improvement of their products. Our innovation and advanced use of their technologies are second to none.
However, where we once relied on LANSA to guide and deliver us the necessary business Technologies as they became important to doing business, we found ourselves providing them with the business requirements and demands driving our clients and having to push them along. As such we branched out to other technologies to fill the gaps in what LANSA could provide.
Today, we are LANSA customers. We purchased License to the LANSA Technologies outright to develop our solutions without LANSA Partner restrictions and to provide our clients with better, unbiased, and broader insights as to the right technology choice.
Developing with LANSA
Surround Technologies’ early development efforts established a structured and standard centric methodology that shaped and continues to shape the development of our products. Now, we offer a range of Application Development Tool Sets, Reusable Application Modules, and complete Applications that simplify building cohesive and agile software solutions for business.
Surround’s flagship LANSA based product, Accelerator for Visual LANSA, sets the pace for next-generation acceleration of application development within the LANSA Environment. Accelerator enables previously-unknown power and simplicity for point-and-click assembly of custom applications that permits fast and simple deployment to PCs, the Web, PDAs, Cell Phones and more.
We know that clients are not trying to buy tools, but implement application solutions, so we also make our expertise available through our LANSA Consulting Services to help bridge gaps. A client may want a small dose of Mentoring and Training to bring their internal staff up to speed quickly or the client may need extensive skill augmentation for a heavily taxed IT group. Either way, our focus is on complementing what you have to help you get to where you want, as productively and effectively as possible. The Future of LANSA
Having had a repository since 1992, reaped many returns on our investment in the "LANSA Technology Insurance" for 2 decades and seeing those in all other development arenas suffer through new technologies in ways we simply didn’t understand, we are not easily swayed from LANSA.
Microsoft, though, has made sustained significant advances in their .NET technologies that make them extremely compelling. Advances that have caught up and even surpassed the development productivity of LANSA. Truly significant advances that may leave LANSA struggling in the dust.
Many other development tools have struggled to keep up with advancing technologies over the years but from 1987 to 2005 LANSA had successfully innovated with their tools moving us and all their clients to the next technology. Since 2005 LANSA too has fallen behind on supporting technologies.
However, we and many of our clients, have significant development investments in LANSA and continue to invest further as we look forward to the new versions and solutions that LANSA provides and hope that they can be competitive in the space again. LANSA's product success has always meant greater success for Surround and our LANSA Clients.
Beyond LANSA
As LANSA falls behind on supporting necessary technologies we see the need, often prompted by the requirements of our Clients, to look beyond what could be achieved with LANSA alone. Consequently, we’ve become not only LANSA experts, but also somewhat of an authority on alternative solutions and complements to the product. These solutions include new products from Surround and/or third parties, and have spawned new Partnerships.
In particular we recognize the need and demand from our clients to deliver support for for Microsoft Development platforms and have come to view that platform as highly strategic to support new markets as well as be able to extend beyond the limitations of LANSA.
Our solutions have become an added insurance layer to LANSA developers providing them the ability to bridge to other development solutions. In fact, many of our Clients value our independent view and market perspective and lean on us for making future strategy decisions. We’d be pleased to extend that service to your organization.
